Can this be done?

I would like to assign users to individual groups and then assign those groups to their own forums. An example of this would be if I had 3 groups Artists, Writers and Editors I would like to be able to assign each of these groups rights to a forum. Let’s for instance say Artists had rights to the Art forum, Writers had rights to the Writing forum and Editors had rights to the Editing + Art + Writing forums. Furthermore, each forum could be made to be completely invisible to those without rights. Finally, when a user has rights to a forum a link to that forum can be dynamically created in the menu giving the user direct access to the forum from any page.

How can this be done? What plugins would I need? How easy would it be to accomplish?
