Can the plugin allow everyone to see everything by default?

  • Hello,

I bought the admin menu pro earlier this year, and it’s probably one of the best plugins I’ve ever used. Thank you!

Now the only problem we have with the plugin is as below:

We help our customers to build their website, then they can install plugins as they wish.
We are using menu editor pro to hide some admin menu options from some users.
But when our customers install new plugins onto their website, the new plugins become hidden too unless we use the admin menu pro to make the new plugins visible.

As we are managing a lot of websites, and it’s not possible for us to log into each our customer’s website and make each new plugin visible to them.

So I was just wondering, is it possible to make Admin Menu Editor Pro show everything to all users by default, then we can just choose certain menu options to hide?

I will be very grateful if you could give us a solution on this.

    Thank you very much!

That’s actually how it usually works – if a user would normally have access to a new plugin that they just installed (i.e. they have the right role and capabilities), AME won’t hide it. It’ll let WordPress handle the new menus by default.

Are you sure AME is what’s hiding those plugins? As in, if you temporarily deactivate AME, do the new plugin menus show up for the users?

Yes, after each time our customer (user role – Shop Manager) install a plugin, we have to go to their their website and tick the plugin for Shop Manager, then they can see.

I was just wondering, is it possible to make another plugin for us, which can allow us to choose which menu options to be restricted from certain users, and which to “just be hidden” from certain users?

For example, we want to hide wp plugins from menu options, the problem we have now is, after we untick “Plugins” from AME, our customers become not authorized to install or activate their plugins. But if we could just hide the wp plugins from their menu options, then they can still manage their plugins.

I will be very grateful if you could kindly let us know whether you can design something like this for us, and how much it would cost.

    Thank you very much!

    Kind regards

Yes, but could they access the plugins without AME? The reason I ask this is to determine whether it’s a bug in AME – hiding menus that it should not, or a configuration issue – the user role never had the required capabilities in the first place, so the menus must be enabled manually.

If you want the customer to have access to everything by default, you could just make them an Administrator or Super Admin (for Multisite). Alternatively, if you can’t use the default Administrator role for some reason, you could give Shop Manager all the capabilities of an Administrator with something like User Role Editor.

Sorry, but I’m currently not available for freelance work.

I think the problem is when we install a new plugin, normally, it’s shown as a sub-menu of Settings or Tools. Then after we install AME, it automatically blocks the menu unless we enable it as admin. Any idea how we can sort this out?

Well, I’m afraid I’ve never encountered that issue before. Could you name a couple of example plugins, and perhaps export your menu configuration to a file and post it?

If you don’t want to post it here, you can contact me via email instead: whiteshadow@w-shadow.com
