Installed Sucuri Plugin in WordPress as here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tik00dbFsSA , ran the Malware Website Scan by this plugin then the same Safari browser window quit WordPress and displayed a warning message about viruses in my Mac.

    Warn!

Your MAC OS x has been infected by the virus, and your system is severely damaged. Require you to immediately remove the virus, and to correct them.

    Do not close this window.

** If you walk away from this window, you will be in danger! **

Is it just a fake message, since it’s very strange that I ran scan for my website and it gave me result about my laptop…
Or could it be a redirect to an advertisement website caused by incorrect DNS (I had a mistake in writing DNS servers in Domain Settings)?

  • Hi there,

Sorry about the trouble. But we wouldn’t be able to diagnose what happened to here, only to say that it’s not related to us. We don’t run any checks on your computer.

A big part of website security is making sure your home computing environment is safe with a good security software.

    Be safe,
    Eve

Hello @naughty_natty for Mac I suggest you to use this software [1] which is a popular malware scanner for macOS. As of today Sucuri does not provides any service targeted to desktop computers, only web servers.

These popups saying that your computer is infected are usually fake, most of the time the computer is clean and the popup is used as an anchor to trick users into downloading a software to supposedly clean the computer but in reality what the user is downloading is the real malware. Many users over Reddit [2] have reported this in the past and the suggestion is always to kill the browser using the process manager and then scan your computer using MalwareBytes or any trusted AntiVirus
