Can Someone Please Help With User Roles???

    I’m hoping someone can tell me if this is even possible or recommend a combination of plugins that can help me accomplish this.

    I have a blog setup that allows anyone to register and create and upload images and media to their post. I have figured out how to hide the Dashboard with Dashboard Heaven, WP Hide Dashboard and the Members plugins.

    But what I’m concerned about is that Authors or Contributors can see see the Tool Menu items “Media” and “Comments” and the “Tools” menu which allows them to install Turbo. How can I hide or remove certain menus? So basically, I would just like for Contributors or Authors to be able to see the Profile menu so they can change password if they want – and only see Post -> Add New and that is it. Would someone please mind to tell me how I can go about doing this?

    Hi,

    You can enable the register on blog function from the settings of your admin panel of the blog. For the default user roles refer this article:

    YOu can modify the roles as per your requirement. For that refer this plugin:

    http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/role-scoper/

    Hi Shane. Thank you so much for responding. So now the follow up. LOL

    Does the Members plugin not do the same thing as the Role Scoper plugin, or is the Role Scoper plugin more comprehensive?

    Can someone please help with this? I’ve looked at the Role Scoper plugin and I now know what the Roles and Capabiites are but I’m still not able to find the right combination to get this working right.

    I have wp-hid-dashboard but that conflicted with Role Scoper which completely broke my site. I hasl have Dashboard Heaven whic works really good. But I still do not want newly registered members to be able to see all files in the Media Library.
