    Hi All,

Currently the categories links on my blog include the word ‘category’ eg …/category/SEO

Is there anyway to remove the word ‘category’?

Id removed, do I need to set up redirect at all?

    Thanks for your help
    P

  • Yes, in Settings/Permalinks change the option Category Base to /.

The period need to be there, it’s not just punctuation here. So:

    /.

    That should fix it.

    Brilliant. It did the trick.
    Thanks

    Actually, it does not work!
Although it does remove the word ‘category’, I either get the 404 page when for some category pages or when the category page is there, no posts related to that category is listed.

    Help!

It may be worth to mention that I inserted /. but when I save the changes the / seems to disappear

    Thanks

Yeah, the / does that. Check that your permalink slugs are pointing to the right page, that can often cause the problem.

Thanks. I am not using slugs for your permalinks… Can you think of anything else?

I found the plugin called ‘wp-no-category-base plugin’ and it did the trick. I just had to install it and activate it and the job was done. Brilliant
