• Hello,
I have a problem with installing a new theme. The error message is “Download failed. Could not open handle for fopen() to /tmp/spasalon.tmp“.
When I installing a new plugin, the error message is “Download failed. Could not open handle for fopen() to /tmp/jquery-slider-carsousel.tmp
    Do you have any solution?

3.7 is just came out. Make sure the theme/plugins you try downloading are compatible with 3.7

Also review this 3.7 Master List: http://wordpress.org/support/topic/wordpress-37-master-list

Hi, thank you for your reply

I have tried 8 theme. They are from wordpress.org. All of theme give me error message “Download failed. Could not open handle for fopen() to /tmp/(theme).tmp”.

So do with the plugin. (Cyclone Slider).

I have some problem with 3.6.1. So I try use 3.7

This happens when the web server is configured incorrectly.

WordPress needs a temporary location on disk to store the updates, and it checks a few different directories looking for one that’s writable, and falls back to /tmp/ when it can’t find one.
In this case, it sounds like it’s falling back to the system /tmp/ directory, and that directory doesn’t allow the web server to create files.

If you own the server, I’d check the permissions of /tmp/, and if not, I’d raise it with your host and complain that it’s broken.

Hello Dion, thanks for your explanation.

What do you suggest for the permissions of /tmp/?
I also will complain it to my host.

    Thank You Very Much.

It is strange, but I have the same message after upgrading.

An unexpected error occurred. Something may be wrong with WordPress.org or this server configuration. If you continue to have problems, please try the support forums.

I have more than one wordpress site in the same server, but except one I have this message all of them. I have tired to turn off the plugins, the themes, but nothing…

    Any idea?
