OK, Polylang should cause no issues. All languages should be present in the same sitemap at the root. I’m not aware of problems with the latest WordPress version either.
Any chance you could switch the sitemap plugin back on again at this moment?
I notice you have an Nginx server. Are there any special server rules dedicated to sitemap.xml requests? Have you tried activating the Google News sitemap to see it that is also broken?

I do not if there is some rule to sitemaps. I tried five in the last week all of them worked ok.
With Google news on it is the same. With only Goole News it 404.
There is the text “<!– permalink_structure ends with slash (/) but REQUEST_URI does not end with slash (/) –>” at the end. Do you have any idea which plugin might be causing that output?

The only place where I can choose permalink structure is the tool of WordPress in the Options menu where you have several ways to decide. But, as I can see the / is there, in default settings.

I asked the guys of the server and I am waiting for an answer and, maybe, it is the problem. When I tried for the first time I was on a different server host, but I do not know how or what kind it was.

So, if it is a problem with the server rules how do we resolve that? For me it is like the Chinese language, I only know how to click on little squares.
It is some code you have and I send to the server host and they insert it?
The plugin works with any of the default Nginx for WordPress configurations as described here https://wordpress.org/support/article/nginx/ but if other rules are appended (rules that are directed at .xml requests for example) then those could interfere. Let me know if your provider finds anything 🙂
In the meantime, do you know if there is a static file “sitemap.xml” in your site root?

They say that there are no special rules or limitations for sitemaps.
About the static file “sitemap.xml” I do not know how or where to look at it.
Let’s wait. I will try it ahead and maybe it will work.
Thanks for your commitment
Best regards
Fernando
The plugin (once activated) has the option to scan for conflicting static files. You can find a button “Check for conflicts” on Settings > XML Sitemap on the right side under “Tools”.

I did that and also the sitemap verification and it was ok. So, it is a mystery. Maybe it solves itself with time. 🙂
Maybe it was something with the sitemap I tried before. It was also”/sitemap.xml” and something remained that does not let this one activate correctly. Unfortunately, I have no time for more tries. I will try it in the future and if it works I will tell you.

HI
An epiphany after lunch solved the problem but I do not know why.
I installed, again, Yoast and uninstalled it very after. After that, I installed yours and it is working ok. I can see it well and it charged ok in Google Seach Console.
Explanation???…maybe because Youst clean the concurrence it cleaned what was in the way.
So…. 🙂
