[Resolved] Can not place slideshow on the page Full Width Page Template

  • Hello,
    im quite new to wordpress but was able to set up my page somehow. I was able to install Meteor Slides on one of the pages but, would like to place it just below the main menu. I know I need to place
    <?php if ( function_exists( 'meteor_slideshow' ) ) { meteor_slideshow(); } ?>
    somewhere in the template but where exactly?

    Could someone help me with that?

    Info:
    Wordpress 3.5
    Theme: Responsive -Version 1.8.7

  • After while I was able to place the slideshow under Menu (not on the page) but have two problems:
    1. These is no space between slideshow bottom and page 🙁
    2. Slideshow appears to any page based on full-with-page template 🙁
    How can I make it independent?

    I appreciate any feedback.

    If you only want it on like just the homepage, make a custom page template for just the homepage, or load it conditionally like this:

    <?php if ( is_front_page() ) {
    	if ( function_exists( 'meteor_slideshow' ) ) { meteor_slideshow(); }
    } ?>

    If you want some space below the slideshow, add a rule like this to your theme’s stylesheet:

    div.meteor-slides {
    margin: 0 0 20px 0 !important;
    }

    Thank you JLueze for your fast answer!
    My intention is to have possibilities to place your slideshow in each of categories, stick it independently on pages, articles, posts etc. above the main menu and introduce different pictures for different categories.
    I googleed a lot trying to find a proper guide how to create different categories but seems I am not strong enough (or to new to subject) to handle this. If you could send me some examples or link to good guidelines I would appreciate that.

    One more question.
    Where exactly shall I place the code? I assume this is the style.css file of the main theme. I placed the code just at the end before last “}” it did not worked out.
    This is the page where you can see the problem:

    The template tag is PHP, it has to go in one of the theme’s PHP template files, you could use conditional tags to load different slideshows on different pages.

    The easiest way to load different slideshows on specific pages though is to use the slideshow shortcode in the page content. Take a look at the documentation on adding a slideshow for more info.

    OK I was able to manage it somehow with following steps:
    1. Installed woosidebar and assigned to top-widget in the responsive-child-theme.
    2. Placed the slidebar.
    Done! Now I can decide on which page, category the slidebar could be visible.

    JLueze,
    Is there anyway possible to have different configurations to different slidebars? My intention is to introduce different effects, and different picture sizes on different pages.

    and why do I have text: 1,2, next, previous next to pages dots and next/previous buttons?
    See example: http://www.bmp.debski.net/category/qnap/

    Yes, if they are different sidebars, you would be able to use a different copy of the slideshow widget. In each widget you can add different metadata that changes the transitions or size.

    The numbers showing is a theme conflict, you can fix that by adding this to your theme’s stylesheet:

    .meteor-buttons a {
    text-align: left;
    }

    Hello Josh,
    it works for numbers but for next, previous text does not. Any idea how to solve it?

    For metadata issue I posted already on your page.

    For the prev/next nav, add this:

    .meteor-nav a {
    text-align: left;
    }
