Some of the possible reason can be, your .htaccess file with Permalink Setting made.
Also, I would suggest you deactivate all the plugins and check once and try enabling the plugins one by one.

your other post permalinks are working, so it is not a permalink issue
Did you get any error when you publish a post?
have you try to create a new post with different slug?

I don’t know what permalink and slug means but this is not a hosted WordPress site so there are no extra plugins.

I edited the permalink and updated but it didn’t help. I put it back so you still have the correct link.

Oh excuse me, I don’t remember how I made this possible but I have Jetpack. When I click on the WRITE button in the upper left hand corner, it just brings me to my dashboard.
If I want to make a new post I actually have to select New Post from the left menu.

If I click on this new Gutenburg (which I hate), it brings me to the dashboard as well. I think I need to figure out how to UN-UPDATE.
