Can no longer access my site

  • I am new user on WordPress and have got myself into a spot of bother.

    I have been trying to change my sites URL however in doing so I can no longer get onto my site.

    Originally changing the URL from the setting panel within WP stopped me from getting onto my site. In order to get onto my site I input “define(‘WP_HOME’,’http://brookesexperience.com/wordpress_d’);

    into wp_config.php. This worked for sometime however I was still wanting to change the URL.

    I then tried to changed the URL from within the functions.php within my theme folder in the directory by adding:

    This didn’t work and now even returning to the previous method does not work either and I get an error 404 when trying to access my site.

    Please help, many thanks!

    To change the site URL properly, follow instructions of this codex: http://codex.wordpress.org/Changing_The_Site_URL

    Hi thanks Tara,

    Though I am ultimately trying to change the site URL, it is not this problem that I am currently dealing with.

    At the moment I can’t gain access to my site or WP dashboard.

    We have previously tried the wp_config and functions change which is recommended on the link above but this did not work.

    The link I provided i my previous reply contains more that one way to change URL properly.

    So, you tried one method, which you said did not work. Try other methods as well.

    Unfortunately I have tried all these methods and nothing is working. I think I am going to have to create a new website now. Just fed up of looking through codes and codes!
