• A client asked an interesting question. Instead of clicking on an unfinished menu item and going to the page which says “Coming soon”, can that menu item instead simply use something like this:

    <a href=”#” title=”Coming soon!”>FAQ</a>

    TIA

  • Of course. Create a custom menu item.

OK, I went to Menus and found Custom Links but that only gives 2 items to complete: URL and label. How would a href work here?

    Label – FAQ
    URL – #

For the URL just put in the number/pound sign and it won’t be clickable.

You can set the option in the page itself for it to be a placeholder page on the menu, but you can’t affect the title attribute of the link.

    Custom Links

    URL: #
    Label: FAQ

    Add to Menu

Then edit the new menu item and give it a Title Attribute.

Yup…that’s exactly what I wanted. I never understood the Title Attribute. Now I do. Thanks Jason and others!

Oops. One little issue remains…when I hover over the menu item it does show the title. If I click on the menu item, however, the background hover color is retained while navigating to other menu items (which work correctly). FAQ and Upcoming Events use the custom menu:
