• Hi,
I have a question please. I’m not sure if Max Mega Menu can work for what I need to do. I use a company called Iubenda for my Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy. So, my links on my site for both of those policies, consist of html/java code which produces a pop up policy when the link is clicked on. Currently, I am using a plugin called Widgets in Menu to accomplish this. This plugin basically does just that, it allows me to create a widget, and insert the code into that widget, and then add that widget to the menu, thus creating links for each of my policies. However, that plugin appears to be abandoned, and as a result I am concerned that it is a security risk, so I need to find another solution to accomplish the same thing.

I have installed and activated the Max Mega Menu, and have been trying to figure out how to do the same thing with this plugin. It doesn’t appear that there is a way to do that with this plugin. Does anyone know if this can be accomplished with Max Mega Menu?

    Thanks,

    Anthony

    Hi Anthony,

You can add widgets to sub menus, but you can’t add them as top level links. Is that what you’re trying to do?

    Hi Tom,
Thank you for your reply. I believe what I am trying to do would be considered a top level link. Perhaps it would be easiest to show you what I am trying to do. If you look at these screenshots, you’ll see how I currently have it setup using the abandoned plugin that I am still using.

This first screenshot shows a “widget” with code in it. There are two of these widgets with code; one for the privacy policy and one for the cookie policy. The next screenshot shows how those widgets are added to the bottom menu of my site, and the third screenshot just shows how the links appear at the bottom of my site. This is what I am trying to accomplish with your plugin. Is it possible to do this at all with your plugin? If not, are you aware of any other plugins out there that may be able to do this?

Thank you for taking the time to look at this for me.

    Hi Anthony,

Thanks for the screenshots. Yes, it looks like you want to use HTML directly in your top level items. It is possible, but it would require the Pro version which includes ‘Replacements’ functionality. You could add a ‘dummy’ item to the menu, then replace the contents of the item with the HTML of your choice.

This documentation doesn’t cover it exactly, but it does show a few screenshots of the Replacements functionality:

    Hi Tom,
Sorry for the delayed reply. Thank you for looking at this for me. When I get paid next I will buy the 5 site license for your plugin so that I can use it to replace this abandoned plugin. Hopefully I’ll be able to figure out how to do it using the link you shared. If I have any issues once I am to that point I’ll let you know.

    Best regards,

    Anthony

    Hi Tom,
It took a while for me to have time to focus on this, but this morning I purchased your Pro version of Mega Menu for five sites. I followed the instructions on the link you sent me previously for how to use “replacements” to use the code for the Privacy and Cookie policies that we discussed earlier in this thread. I have good news, and not so good news.

The good news is, it worked, as far as functionality. However, when I activated the Mega Menu and did this, for some reason it changed the formatting of the entire bottom menu on my site. I’m thinking this may be able to be corrected with settings somewhere, but I have no idea where. To show you an example of what I am talking about, I’ll show you two screenshots. The first screenshot is how my site looks without using the Mega Menu, and how it needs to look:

Here is a screenshot of when I had the Mega Menu enabled and added just one link using the replacements option. In this screenshot, you can see several things have happened to the bottom menu. There is a grayed out box around all of the menu links. The links themselves are bold white in color. The previous links for the Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy say “Custom HTML: Cookie Policy”, and “Custom HTML: Privacy Policy”. That is how those links are titled within the menu in wordpress, as those are from the widget plugin that I have used previously. These are the links I am trying to replace with your plugin. The other link in this screenshot is called “Privacy Policy 2”. That is the link that was created using the Mega Menu plugin with the replacements option, and it functioned properly when clicked on, and also seemed to have the correct color.

Do you know what could be causing these formatting issues? For now, I have the Mega Menu deactivated until these issues can be resolved.

    Thanks,

    Anthony

P.S. You’ll notice on the second screenshot, there is another issue on the bottom left side of the screen. That is from another problem I am having with a script that I use on the site for ADA Compliance, which I am pretty sure is unrelated to the Mega Menu, but I’m not positive about that yet. It’s an issue that I did not notice until I was working on the menu’s this morning. I have a support request out to the ADA company for that problem.

I just wanted to add, that the other issue I mentioned on the bottom left of the screen with the ADA compliance plugin, is resolved, and was not related to me doing anything with the Mega Menu.

    Hi Anthony,

As this is a Pro related question, please could you get in touch through https://www.megamenu.com/support/ ? We’re not allowed to discuss the commercial side of things on these forums.

    Thanks,
    Tom
