• Hello,

I haven’t used WP yet, but I really like the fresh look and all the positive reviews I read about it, and wanna try. But I have a domain which I bought from blogger/google. So I wonder if this can work out with WP and meet the server/host criteries?

    I appriciate your help.

    Thanks, Sirin

  • Hi Sirinkoca,

if your domain is something like sitename.blogspot.com then the answer is no. blogspot.com indicates that your site runs on servers Google uses to run Blogger only, and it is not possible to install WordPress there.

You can check with Blogger (in their help section, perhaps?) to see if they will allow you to map a blogspot domain to an outside host, but I doubt they offer this.

Best of luck, and welcome to WordPress!

Hello. Thanks for the answer. My domain is “semventure.com” which I bought from Google via blogger.com. My blogger domain was first semventure.blogger.com, but I was asked if I wanted to buy a domain with this name (without blogger ending..) Since I am new to blogging, web-publishing and so on .. so I dont know much about how things work.. So, is it possible to use WP with my domain: semventure.com ? I really appriciate the help. Thank you very much. Greetings from Oslo

Yes, you can use that domain. When you purchased it from Google, you were probably given some kind of username and login info to manage the settings for your Domain.

You will have to purchase hosting for your new WordPress site first, and then you will have to take your hosts nameserver information and update those settings in Google, where you purchased the domain. This is called a DNS change, and it basically “points” web traffic from it’s old home on Blogger to it’s new home on WordPress.

Thank you for taking time to answer me.
Do I have a hosting service at the moment? It is so difficult to get in touch with google. I purchased this domain and than no way to contact google to ask questions about domain, design or DNS settings what so ever.. everything goes/redirects to Google pages.. like MS and FB doing.. there are no real person to ask question anymore! 🙁

But, this domain (semventure.com) is redirecting from blogger.com and there are so much unnecessary things inside of the code.. templates, skins which I dont wanna use. I want actually remove everything from blogger.com and make a new fresh site with wordpress. Will it be something like this with WP also? Do I need to use skins and templates??

I want to make stg like one of these:
    http://kartellstorela.com/
    http://www.recgroup.com/

We are not that big company and still in the establishment fase, but we want that our vision can be shown through our web-page; clean, fresh, trusworthy.. so on.

    What about Joomla?

Thank you so much for your help, appriciated.

I am sending you a big hug from Oslo! 🙂

    Regards, Sirin
