Can I use extra fields as tags?

    I defined an extra tag for my users.
    I would like to use that content to make the messages more personal. I tried with no success (but maybe I did something wrong).
    In this manual page there is a list of supported tags but I cannot see if extra fields are supported.
    Can you shed some light, please?
