    Hello,

I am a photographer and I have 14 years worth of images on my site. My site speed is terrible. However, I recently had someone install several different plugins on my site in an effort to speed it up. Several of them caused issues with the functioning of my website so I had to deactivate them.

I would like to try Smush. However, I wonder if I don’t like the way the images look once they are smushed, will deactivating the plugin return the images to their original size? Or are they once smushed, forever smushed?

    Thank you for your help.

    Hello leahseverson,

Smushing is permanent process – there are two possibilities on how to preserve and get back images after smushing:
    1) In free version make sure that “Resize original images ” is disabled – this way if you don’t like effect, you will be able to regenerate your images again from non-smushed originals (with plugin like that https://srd.wordpress.org/plugins/regenerate-thumbnails/ )
    2) In Pro version there is option “Make a copy of my original images” – and this one allows you to smush orginal images and if needed then to restore those images from copy

    kind regards,
    Kasia
