We use the MailChimp integration and are wondering about these issues:

    1. Why doesn’t the integration update existing subscribers?
    2. Can we tag subscribers using the integration, so we can segment this kind of traffic?
    3. How do we debug this connection? We found 25% of new subscribers missing in MailChimp, when checking

    Thanks in advance.

    Hi @nowton

I hope you’re well today and thank you for your questions!

Why doesn’t the integration update existing subscribers?

Do you have “allow already subscribed user to submit the form” option enabled already in the “integrations” section of your popup/embed/slide-in settings?

Can we tag subscribers using the integration, so we can segment this kind of traffic?

Yes, you can add tags that will be applied to users subscribing through the given Hustle module. To do this, go to the “Hustle -> Popups or Slide-ins or Embeds” and edit selected popup/slide-in/embed there.

In “Integrations” section you should see your MailChimp under “Active apps” and if you click on a “gear” icon next to it it will open a “wizard”. The first step is email list selection, the second one is where you add tags.

How do we debug this connection? We found 25% of new subscribers missing in MailChimp, when checking

If you have only MailChimp added to “Active apps” in “Integrations” section of your popup/slide-in/embed settings, you can also add “Local List” there. From then on you’ll be able to check “Hustle -> Email Lists” page and it will show you all the submitted date. You can look into details and it will also show whether data was successfully submitted to MailChimp or not. If not, there would be an error message that should help diagnose those missing submissions.

Additionally, on “Hustle -> Settings -> General” page you can enable “Debug mode”. It will write additional information into debug.log file which you can then check to see if there are e.g. any Mailchimp API communication errors/issues logged.

    Best regards,
    Adam

    • OK, this was being caused by something else (MC automation issue)
    • Apparently the API key went stale without warning us. Upon re-entering we were able to select tags
    • Thanks, we had this option enables but are trying to prevent manual checks as much as possible

Thanks for your elaborate answers; looks solved to me.
