Hi! I would like to make a subscribed calendar in Google Calendars public. Is this possible?

    What I did:

    • subscribed to an Events Calendar – easy
    • imported it into my Google Calendar – worked!
    • tried to add it to a calendar in the members section of my website, using the Simple Calendar plugin
    • BUT, this only works if the Google Calendar is set to public and now I’m guessing it is not (in standard setting); also it is not possible to change the privacy settings on an imported calendar

Thank you in advance for your help!

    Cheers, Gabrielle

    Hi @gabriellephilipsen

    Thanks for reaching out.

By default, I think the subscribed calendar can be accessed publicly. I tried subscribing to your calendar without changing the default settings, and I was able to make it work with the Simple Calendar plugin.

I hope this helps, and please let me know if you have further questions or concerns.

Hi Darian, sorry for the late reply – was offline for a few days :-). Thank you! your answer does and does not help at the same time. It is good to know that the subscribed calendar is public by standard. Still, I can’t get it to work with Simple Calendar, but that surely will be a problem on my side then ;-). Does the calendar you used with Simple Calendar have an ID @import.calendar.google.com? I have the feeling that this might be the issue

    Hi @gabriellephilipsen

On my end, there is a Google Calendar ID available. To access it, you should first subscribe to the calendar, and then navigate to the calendar settings. The ID can be found right below the Notifications section.
