Support » Fixing WordPress » Can I remove a site from Network admin to be standalone?

  • Somehow I installed wordpress on my server using a Network admin script to create a network of sites, when all i wanted was a simple wordpress installation.

Is there a simple way I can remove the whole network admin thing?
Its such a pain managing one site from network admin, each time I have a plugin to add I have to enter click back up to admin, install plugin etc..

    Any ideas?

    Thanks so much

  • Alternatively, since no one seems to know Can someone explain how I backup delete and restore the wordpress site manually , and lose the network?

If i backed up and restored normally , wouldnt I be in the same network again?

    Hi Tester,

Not sure if you’ve managed this, but I found myself in a similar situation.

Depending on which site you want to keep, there may be a fair bit of messing around inside your site’s database to do.

    Anyway, see if this helps:
    Dismantle WP ‘Network of Sites’

    No, I never resolved this.
Thank you for your info, i’ll try it and update later how I did
