Support » Plugins » Can I pull video into jquery slider with php?

  • Hi,
I have spent a lot of time looking for a slider that dynamically pulls posts containing images/text ASWELL AS posts containing video.

There are a lot of people out there asking for something similar, so I don’t think it’s out there. The closest I came was the SlideDeck plugin, which will support slides containing video embeds (youtube, etc.). However, it only does this for a fixed content slider, and not dynamically. If you want the slider to pull content from a featured category, for instance, so you don’t have to go in and manually change the slider content, you have to choose the ‘Smart Deck’ option of the plugin, and SmartDeck shows post content, but not videos contained in that content…

I’ve been looking at a bunch of jquery wordpress slider plugin tutorials, and I think I’m going to hard code a dynamic slider into my theme. Something that pulls posts from a featured category.

I’m just wondering, if the php pulls a post containing video, in the same way as it would on a main index page, for example, is there any reason why the video wouldn’t show up in the slider?

Am I limited to just embedded youtube/vimeo videos, or can I use html5 and/or flash and have it still display?

If anyone can point me in the right direction, I’d be really grateful!
