Can I post an image to FB if it's featured but not in the post (17 posts)

    Hi,
For some of my posts, I want to select a featured image which will not be used on the website. I want this image only to appear on FB when posted. It's sort of a "default image" for a few categories.

I tried clicking "use post thumbnail only"

Should I have not done that?

    Thanks!!

You can set your own default image for posts with no image using the "Default Open Graph image to use for posts" option.

But if posts have images they will use the ones in the post.

    Thanks Steve,
if posts have images uploaded to them, and one selected as featured image, but it does not show up on the page when the post is viewed on the actual website. What will/should happen then.

Wordbooker will take the first image it finds - starting with the Featured Image/Custom post meta images. So its perfectly possible to have an image used by Wordbooker that doesn't ever appear in the post.

If you created a custom meta called my_secret_image and told Wordbooker to use that and loaded images into it then that would allow you to have an image that Wordbooker uses that never appears in your posts.

If you tell it to use the Thumb/Featured image it should work......

    Sorry,
More exactly, my problem is that wordbook set the "og" image with the 50x50. How can I force to use a bigger one?

If your image is 50 by 50 then it will use it - because that's the size of the image that you're using as your own featured image. If you use a larger image for the featured image then Wordbooker will use that - You can try using a larger image in one of the Custom Meta tags and set the "Use Image from Custom Meta instead of Featured Image for Open Graph image" option

I am having a similar problem. I am making a business directory and every listing has a featured image. below the business information on the page is a rating and review section. When someone uses this it posts to the websites facebook page, but never with that business's featured image.

I have completely disabled the social OG tags in yoast, i even got a plugin that supposedly adds og tags to featured images i guess. Ive tried every combination of settings and read every topic about image thumbnails in wordbooker i can find and nothing works. I think its a theme related issue because i am using a theme from a company that uses a custom framework.

here is an example of a listing page where this is supposed to pull the image:
    http://www.meshgeo.com/item/north-end-electronics/
when i link to the page in facebook it will use that image as it should, but wordbooker wont.

Wordbooker can only handle images that are:

    1) In the body of the post itself
    2) Defined as a WordPress Featured Image / Post Thumbnai
    3) Defined in a custom WordPress Meta tag (which you've told Wordbooker to check)
    4) Set as a default image to use when there is no image in the post.

I can't provide support for non-free plugins or themes that don't seem to work with Wordbooker.

Steve, the image is in fact a featured image. it is set in the item creation process, using the featured image upload built directly into wordpress.

The image also uses the og:image meta tag, defined by wordpress and i set this in wordbooker.

[ Moderator note: please wrap code in backticks or use the code button. ]

    <!-- Wordbooker generated tags --><meta property="og:locale" content="en_US" /> <meta property="og:site_name" content="MeshGeo - Best SEO Optimized Online Business Directory" /> <meta property="fb:admins" content="1116742797" /> <meta property="og:type" content="article" /> <meta property="og:title" content="North End Electronics"/> <meta property="og:url" content="http://www.meshgeo.com/item/north-end-electronics/" /> <meta property="og:image" content="http://www.meshgeo.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/09/pcrepair.jpg" /> <!-- End Wordbooker og tags -->

this gets generated on each item page and is seen is the source code for the page after it is generated

The OG image tag suggests Wordbooker is finding an image and that is the one it will be pushing to Facebook during the publish.

I'd need to see the diagnostic logs from a Publish action (with the diagnostics set to Show Everything) so we can see what images it thinks it can see in the post.

The META tags are the internal ones used by WordPress - not the OG: Meta tags. They're the tags you add and maintain in the Custom Fields section of the Edit/Add Post screen. The three standard ones are image, thumb,Thumbnail which is why Wordbooker includes them.

The OG tags are generated on the fly for each post by Wordbooker (or other OG tag plugins)
