    Hi guys,

is it possible to overbook events?

For example: I have a ticket which is available three times. Once the three tickets are booked and confirmed, I would still like to have the booking option available in case one of the three people who bought the tickets are canceling it.

I saw the settings in Settings > bookings > general but they appear to be only working for non confirmed bookings. Is that correct or am I doing something wrong?

you can try option under Events > Settings > Bookings > General Options > Allow double bookings

But isn’t that just a setting so people who already booked an event can book it again?

It works like you can still approve more pending bookings even though you have reached the booking spaces limit but this will not allow you to create new bookings other than approving pending bookings.

Actually, @findingitontheway is right, this won’t work for what’s being asked in the OP.

The only way around this is to set the setting “Reserved unconfirmed spaces?” to NO. And ‘Approval Required?’ to yes.

Then, when the event is fully booked (or before too) you could create a second ticket called ‘Waiting List’ with x spaces available, and when people book that ticket their booking is pending but doesn’t take up confirmed/reserved spaces, meaning overbooking is possible on that ticket.

    Hi guys,

thanks for your thoughts on this. I guess I understood what the settings are for now. Since we need back up bookings for every event and have certain ticket options we will simply add one more space to the ticket…so we can confirm the first bookings and as soon as it is full have one more for keeping the people on pending.

    Cheers!

Edit: Or maybe I will find a way to create the back up tickets as soon as their “mother” tickets are sold out.
