Can I Over-ride WordPress Forcing a Page Title ?

    I’ve created a new WordPress site in the root directory. I’ve had a blog in another directory called “blog” on the same hosting account. I’ve deleted all the old files and the old database. Now when I try to name the blog page “blog” on the new site in the root directory WordPress forces the new page title to be “blog-2”. Help! Is there an over-ride in the WordPress files to make this stop. I want to name the new page just blog.
