I’m going to be creating a website for an organization that wants some special features and I’m trying to decide if I can build the site in wordpress or not. This is what they need:
1. home page is a big main graphic with site links as hotspots
2. when you hover over a particular area of the large main graphic, another image shows (a spotlight beam of light)
I know how to do it if I was building a normal site with my web editing software (Microsoft Expression Web), but can this be done in a wordpress site?
Why I’m exploring wordpress is because the company wants to be able to edit and update their schedule of events, so I was thinking of building the entire site in wordpress so they can just edit whatever they want, especially because they also want to put on the home page “Our next event: (date) (place)” and update it with the next upcoming event.
My first instinct was to just build the site normally and just make a page for their schedule in wordpress and link it to their site. But since they want to edit the home page upcoming event text, the home page also needs to be in wordpress. That graphical home page complicates everything.
Ug, I’m really confused and would appreciate any direction. Please keep in mind that my website development experience/knowledge is about a 5 on a scale of 1 to 10, so I can’t do anything super complicated.
