• Hello. This may sound like an odd question, but I’ll try to explain. W currently have our wordpress website hidden from being picked up by search engines, since it will be soon be replacing an existing non-wordpress site that we have. We wanted to get started on configuring some things with the Yoast plugin before we launch the new site.

My question is, are there any specific settings that I WOULD NOT want to enable or configure in the program until after Go-Live (i.e., settings that may expose our site to the search engines)? It would be helpful if anyone could let me know the specific settings that we would want to hold off on to ensure that nobody can find our site in the search engines.

I know I could simply wait to install this plugin until after go-live, but it has a ton of different settings, so we would like to get started on the different settings that have no initial impact with search engines. Please advise.

    Thanks

  • Yes You can – I suppose.. Go in Backend to WP SEO, choose last menu item (Edit Files?) and add to the end of robots.txt:

    Disallow /

You should wait to import the sitemap in GoogleWebmaster Tools until go live is done.
