• I found similar questions in searching, but no answers (LOL!)

I am interested in having specific pages that one could click on and see a roll of posts (blog) that is specific to that page. And have other pages that have their own topic-specific blog posts.

    Can this be done?

Or do I have to just have my topic-specific posts appear all together in one giant blog?

Or is this done best by just assigning categories and then just featuring the categories as the choices in the tabs in the nav bar?

Is there any way for me to not have visible the resulting giant blog of disconnected, unrelated posts?

    Thanks!

Bingo! This is, by far, the easier method.

    Thanks Esmi.

Just asking here – is there another method? I just would prefer to not have a long unrelated roll of topics that will seem odd to people who are coming to my site for totally different purposes or interests.

I was thinking I could just “hide” the page with the actual long blog and then just show the pages individually and the categories via the tabs & side bar choices.

My over all preference would be to have “Recipes” and then a blog of rolling daily recipes, “Confessions” and then a blog of rolling daily confessions, etc.

    Is that possible?

    Thanks so much!

How comfortable are you with coding – HTML & PHP?

    Learning…. will I be sorry I asked – LOL!!!

Well, all learning is good. 🙂 If you want to keep some posts/categories off your front (main posts) page, you’ll need to create a custom query in the theme’s index.php template file that excludes those categories. But if you’re going to exclude all posts, that begs the question – what content are you gong to show on your front page? And would a static front page work better for you?

I thought about a Static front page but then I’d still be back with the same question on the “other” pages of trying to make a blog style rolling with topics specific to those pages.

I’m thinking I should just go for the category in the tabs idea and not fret about who sees what in a roll somewhere.

I was actually considering if it would work to have a static front page and then just “hide” the actual rolling blog page with only the categories as choices visible.

Honestly I think I’m over thinking this too much and should just start the blog and see how it goes….driving myself crazy with too much pre-planning up front rather than just jumping in! LOL!

    Thank you so much!

Not if you used category pages.
