Support » Fixing WordPress » can I create a post template like this?

  • Resolved pickled

I’m looking to create a template for certain posts to use that basically changes the entire page of the site. Is there a way to do that?

What I’m looking for is a way to do this just like you can with a page template, or even category templates, but I haven’t found any way to do this yet.

What I’d like to do is copy single.php, name it whatever.php, then be able to apply that to certain posts…is that possible?

  • Not really. You can have single templates based on category – but not arbitrarily chosen. At least, I don’t remember anything like that.

ugh, that seems odd doesn’t it?

wordpress is mostly used for POSTS why in the world can’t I apply a template just like I can for pages or categories?

very, very annoying (but I think you are correct). any ideas how to hack something like this? I’m not a coder, but I’ll hire one if it can be done.

I’m really amazed, this has to be a common request…

No, it is not. Bloggers prefer consistency…

    Give this one a try:
