Can I choose a custom place to add a "dot"/needle point

I am using this widget on this site: http://www.theturbantimes.com/our-team/
I want to add one of those “needle points” (round blue dots which you click on a box pops up) in a custom place (Kurdistan) as this area isn’t a country and doesn’t have its own borders. Is there a way for me to add one custom “needle/dot” in between Turkey/Iraq/Syria (I don’t need to add the “country borders”, just the “needle point” just so it’s possible for me to click on it and a box to pop up like with the others).
Hope it makes sense.
