  • Try switching theme to a twenty* theme and disable plugins. You can not “disable” theme folder. There must be a theme active for WordPress to work. WordPress by itself just manages the content. The theme displays the content.

Is this WP install done by your host? If so, you might talk to them. If not and you installed it yourself then try downloading 4.9.1 and manually uploading the files via FTP. Most times that works for me.

If it still gives you problems, ask the host to restore a copy of the files and DB to the last restore point. (NOTE: hosting services varies how often they make backups so make sure they tell you when the last back was made)

    Thanks for your answers.
I yesterday I updated to 4.9.1 manually too but nothing happened but some of my users say they have worked with the site last night and at the morning I had this email from the host provider:

“Our server monitors have noticed that one or more scripts/application hosted on your hosting account to be using a large amount of server resources. This has impacted the overall performance of other websites hosted on the servers. To reduce the impact on the servers and other customer accounts, we had to suspend your website and CGI services. The permissions of the script is also disabled.

The list of files which were getting high requests are given below:
    /htdocs/wordpress/index.php”

I replaced the “index.php” and waiting for their answer.

How and What has happened to “index.php” ??

Was it causing the problems that I mentioned?

    -Error establishing a database connection.
    -Userlinks redirects to homepage.
    -Can’t access site and log-in

Thanks for your attention. Just now my host specialist restore my website to 29th of December but after restoring of the database I have the “Error establishing a database connection” like before.

On Thursday WordPress automatically updated itself from 4.9.0 to 4.9.1 and after that I have this problem. I re-uploaded the files of 4.9.1 manually, checked wp-config and httaccess too but nothing happened.

    What should I do now?
