Can I administrate several different blogs with one mysql-database

  • I want to host several blogs on my webspace with only one database but different subdomains and individual users. Is this possible?

  • Yes, you can have multiple WordPress installations in the same MySQL database. You just need to make sure that each installation has a different table prefix set in wp-config.php:

$table_prefix = 'wp_'; <– change “wp” to something suitable for each separate blog.

When you run install.php, WordPress will create a fresh set of tables with the prefix you specify for each blog. Each blog will be completely independent of the others.

    Hi LesBessant!

Question: How can I access the separate blogs? I couldn’t find them?

    Thx!

You have to upload the WordPress files to the locations where you want them – just follow the usual installation instructions. Each blog is a separate installation of WordPress, the only thing that’s shared is the database.

Hello again! It’s working!!! THANK YOU VERY MUCH!!!
