Just to be clear… You can add a map to a “Post” right now, just not a “Page”. To add a map to your post, edit the post, and insert the shortcode anywhere into your post. The shortcode to use can be found in the Google Map Widget controls on the right.
I see myself using the Google maps feature quite a bit in the future, so please help me understand:
In order to use this feature, I would go into Google Maps and find a (or create a custom) map and then get the GoogleMaps code. Then I would paste it into the TravelBlog Google Widget? Then it would appear within or next to that particular post?
I’ll visit the Google Maps help center to find out more about signing up for an API key. Since I have already installed numerous Google maps on my trailsnet website, I may already be signed up for an API key.
A quick explaination: You do not need your own API key, we have build that in for you. All you need to do is insert a simple bit of shortcode into your Post body, and enter almost any level of address in the Post field we have provided and voila! Your Post will display a map in the body, and the sidebar widget will display points for all your posts on the Global map.
The comment made above by shanmarsh2 does not apply to this theme’s Google Maps feature. He is correct only if you are doing a custom integration.
