# Can create posts

 * Hi there, I’m new to WordPress, and am having a problem I haven’t seen come up
   on the forum.
 * I’m trying to do my first post – I’ve tried using QuickPress as well as the normal
   way. Whether I say I want to save to draft or publish it directly, I get the 
   little “I’m doing something” icon, and then it reverts to the regular cursor,
   but nothing has happened. No new post, no new draft. But no error messages, either.
 * This happens in both IE and FF, so it does not appear to be a problem with my
   browser. I have deactivated all plugins.
 * Do any of you smart people out there have any idea what might be going on?

 * Have you tried:
 * – switching to the default theme to rule out any theme-related problems?
 * – [resetting the plugins folder](http://codex.wordpress.org/FAQ_Troubleshooting#How_to_deactivate_all_plugins_when_not_able_to_access_the_administrative_menus.3F)
   by FTP or phpMyAdmin? Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause
   problems.
 * – re-uploading the wp-admin and wp-includes folders from a **fresh** download
   of WordPress?

 * Thanks for the help. Did all 3 things you suggested and the problem persists.
   Is it possible that somehow my MySQL permissions are bad?
 * Are there logs generated by wordpress that I could look at to see what the problem
   might be?

 * If there was a MySQL issue, I’d expect a lot more problems across the site and
   admin area. However, running a repair in your db certainly wouldn’t hurt.
 * WP doesn’t log anything but, depending upon your hosting package, you may have
   access to server error logs which would be worth looking at.
