    Hi folks,

I've just run a scan on my multisite install that flagged up some encoded stuff in a theme's functions.php - so I've come across here and noticed the sticky posts about encoded themes etc. - point noted - but I'd like some advice on a theme I put in to place a long time ago.

I decoded (and formatted) the code to try and make sense of it, but I can't - I'm wondering if anyone can tell me what it does/is it malicious?
Here's the decoded bit in question:

It's from a theme called Flued Blue that I picked up a few years ago and modified.

    Any advice most gratefuly received.

It's a call back to a home server to check something. The most likely explanation is that it's checking your domain to see if it's got a valid licence ot use that theme. That's the main thing I've found when I've sene things like that.

Yep, that happens all the time. The free themes that are available from somewhere else apart from this site are notorious for that. It happens on a huge percentage of them, and it's all really just about getting SEO links for the theme's designers seeing as how they are giving away the theme for free. It's a bad way of doing it, but in those sort of circles, it's "accepted".
