Support » Plugin: Advanced Ads – Ad Manager & AdSense » Can ad units be created with Elementor as CPTs?

I want to use group ad containers that rotates through ad units created with Elementor as CPTs with all the dynamic and responsive features Elementor widgets offer.

So when adding a new ad unit, what would be great is to have in the list of ad types is to include something like “CPT/Post ad” where the the slug for the post (ad) is entered. That isn’t there, so my question is there any other way to achieve this.

Using Elementor to create CPTs means widgets’ dynamic tags allows the ads to be dynamic and highly responsive to all users and personalized to registered users. Dynamic in the sense of changing images, offers, text, backgrounds, colours, urls, etc.

So each Advanced Ad unit is a container for an CPT created with Elementor. Then I can manually place the Advanced Ad ad group using a shortcode and have advanced ads rotate, manage and track the ads (CPTs).

Is that doable in anyway? Apologies if it’s there already and I’ve missed something.

    Hi emezing17,

Can you please specify what you exactly mean with CPT? I am used to this abbreviation as Costs per thousand, but I guess that you refer to something else. Do you mean Call to actions

Can you please specify which slug do you mean here? Do you refer to some kind of Elementor template that you call via its post ID?

I am unsure about your need, but I guess that this part of our manual about Elementor and ads could be the answer.

CPT = Custom Post Type. I wanted to create a number of posts that could be regular WordPress posts or CPTs to be used as ad units.

In my case, I want to create these post ads using Elementor because it makes it easy to add dynamic elements that can change ads based on geography, time/date, user, or many other factors.

My question was can a create an Advanced Ad group and for the rotated ad units use posts (or CPTs)? The post slugs or post IDs are specified to determine which posts appear in the Advanced Ads Rotation widget wherever it is placed.

An Advanced Ad unit can be an image, html, Google ad, etc. – what I was wondering was can a WP Post or CPT be used as an ad unit – so the Advanced Ad ad unit is a container pointing to a WP post or CPT (referenced by slug or post ID).

Maybe there is a way to do that using an HTML Ad unit type to display a post/CPT, but not being a coder I wouldn’t know if that can be done or how to do it.

I hope that is a little clearer.

    Hi emezing17,

Thanks for your explanation. That makes it clearer for me to know that you refer to custom post types.

You can realize such a setup using Advanced Ads and Elementor Pro. Elementor allows creating such “posts” that you want to use as ads and saves them as Templates.

Using Elementor Pro, you can call those Templates via shortcode. If you create a new ad unit in Advanced Ads (plain text and code ad type) and insert this shortcode, you can inject the Elementor Template via Advanced Ads, embed it into rotations, and use all Advanced Ads features like Tracking.

Here, you can find a manual for embedding Elementor templates.

    Hi Joachim,

That’s great – I referred to CPTs because it’s a way to group ads of a certain type to be used in a specific ad rotator. You could use categories but that requires extra filtering in widgets. So I could create an ad rotator for car dealer ads and then create a collection of posts (for example using a custom post type ‘car-dealer-ads’) and then use these as you’ve suggested 🙂

    Thanks

    Hoi emezing17,

In addition, you could also target your CPT to your content using the Post content condition, the URL parameters condition or the content injection with custom rules.

In this tutorial, I show all available options of Advanced Ads for keyword targeting.

    Best regards,
    Joachim
