• Have just switched to using WordPress for websites and am getting a huge amount of Comments showing up on the Dashboard even though I use only pages and no Posts or Comments. I am using Contact Form 7 with its own Captcha, on all my sites. My hosting company suggested using wp-recaptcha or google-captcha. Is that as well as the CF7 one or as an alternative? Thanks

First, Contact Form 7 has nothing at all to do with the huge amount of comments. Comment is WordPress’s feature, Contact Form 7 is a plugin providing mail forms, they are different things.

Contact Form 7 doesn’t support reCAPTCHA by default, but there are 3rd party add-on plugins that add reCAPTCHA fields into Contact Form 7 forms.

I didn’t mean to imply that the Contact Form 7 is causing spam – far from it – its s great form. I might try a reCaptcha 3rd party plugin to see if it makes a difference. I was really wondering why a 3rd party plugin was necessary if I use the CF7 captcha tag generator.

No, I meant that you’re seeing comment spam, not contact form spam, so trying reCAPTCHA add-on for Contact Form 7 is unlikely to change your situation.
