Call to undefined function when I copy template.

  • Is it normal to get an error “Call to undefined function… on line so so” when you copy a template and save it as a new file? This happens whether it’s a child theme or the theme itself (I’m using Suffusion) and even if I give the template a new name.

This is driving me crazy. All I want to do is make two “page of posts” page – one is private and another public. I can’t make one “Private” via the post editor because if it’s a “page of posts” in my theme, it overrides the privacy setting and automatically makes it public.

    Not really, no. 😉

Are you copying and entire parent theme’s functions.php file into the child theme? If you are then don’t do that. That’s not how it works with child themes.

This Codex link should help you start with a page of posts.

Once you have that Page of Posts then you can work on creating that private version.

I was duplicating a Page of Posts template, hoping to assign one to a public page of posts, and the other to a private page of posts. Thank you for the help. I found a way to display a list of private posts inside a single page. So I just use that as the private posts page.
