Support » Plugin: Simple Calendar - Google Calendar Plugin » Calendar displays, but with no events

  • I am trying to use Simple Calendar to display our church calendar, which is a Google calendar with a number of sub-calendars for each category of event. I can display it correctly using the embed code provided by Google (see https://play.uucm.org/full-calendar/). However, when I try to use Simple Calendar using a Google Calendar API, and the calendar ID provided by Google Calendar (an email address), the calendar does not display any events.

I find, along with others who have reported in this forum, that if I restrict the API to http referrers, I get errors when attempting to create a new calendar from this. When I change to an unrestricted API, I no longer get any errors, but the calendar displays as empty. (see https://play.uucm.org/simple-calendar/)

Can someone help me figure out how to display this calendar correctly?

Also, when using the Google embed code, I can choose to include/exclude certain sub-calendars (categores of events) — how can I do that with Simple Calendar?

Here is what the Calendar>Tools section displays about my website:

    Anyone out there?

    Iā€™m here.

I guess we need more than the two of us…

I now note that the calendar displays one event, from the main calendar. I believe that event was entered (by someone else) incorrectly, because our usage is to always categorize events as Events, Meetings, Rentals, Worship, etc., which are sub-calendars within the main calendar.

It looks like Simple Calendar only displays the main calendar events. How do I get it to display the sub-calendar events? Without this capability, Simple Calendar will be worthless to me. I’m sure that is not your intent.

Well, I have figured out that a Google sub-calendar has its own id, and I can use Simple Calendar to display a sub-calendar. However, I need to display all the sub-calendars in one view. It seems that Simple Calendar can only display one calendar at a time. Apparently, I need to pay for an add-on to be able to display multiple calendars, and the documentation I’ve found for that does not make it clear that it would work with Google sub-calendars.

If you share a Google calendar to another, it should work.

    Thanks for responding!

However, I don’t understand what you mean by “share a Google calendar to another”. I only know about sharing calendars to users, and I already have these set to Public.

    Could you be more specific?

    Thanks!

I am having the same issue. Here is the public calendar but none of the events show on my website:

    https://calendar.google.com/calendar/embed?src=surgeonsforsight.org_onm72immetg2psqj73igq88i9o%40group.calendar.google.com&ctz=America%2FNew_York

    Has anyone found a solution?

I think i have the same.. Google calendar is set yo public and i’m using the calendar id on the plug-in, but it’s not showing any events on the website.

Have anyone found something that are causing this?

It worked a couple of months ago..

Would appreciate any kind of help here šŸ™‚

ISSUE SOLVED: There where no upcoming events and i had the settings set to only show events one week before today. XD

So do we know how to set the calendar to show dates even when there are no events? I’m working on a hotel site and would like to show available dates and it stops at the last booked date.

*edit- I figured out that if I put a random event like 3 years in the future, it will show all dates till then, weird work around but it works*
