 * I am the technical resource for the news website referenced. I have read the
   FAQ for caching but am still uncertain as to what settings I should use.
 * The site has 12,370 posts (news stories) going back over 9+ years. New posts
   are added daily, usually between 4 and 8 a day. The editor has been getting complaints
   recently that new posts and/or updated stories are not showing up immediately,
   but eventually do so “after a while”.
 * Page caching is enabled and the lifespan is 24 hours.
    I purged the cache and
   it is now “re-building” and increasing in size and files all the time. ‘Preload
   now’ says “Preloading posts found in sitemap: 51 out of 738 URLs preloaded”,
   and also seems to be increasing (slowly). ‘Schedule preloader’ is not enabled.
 * My guess is that caching is the cause of the user “complaints”.
 * Can I change the settings to increase the rate at which posts are shown/updated?
 * Should I schedule the preloader? What does this do?
 * The page I need help with: _[[log in](https://login.wordpress.org/?redirect_to=https%3A%2F%2Fwordpress.org%2Fsupport%2Ftopic%2Fcaching-questions%2F%3Foutput_format%3Dmd&locale=en_US)

 * [@zimbo000](https://wordpress.org/support/users/zimbo000/) Yes scheduling the
   preloader will preload the urls every interval its set to.
 * Try to set the schedule the preloader and check if it helps to fix the issue?

 * Cache rebuild finished:
    Current cache size: 830.48 MB Number of files: 18224
 * What would be a suitable cache lifespan given the nature of the site? I assume
   you would recommend a shorter time but are there any downsides to that?
 * Should I set the preloader the same as the cache lifespan?

 * [@zimbo000](https://wordpress.org/support/users/zimbo000/) You can set it to
   24 hours.
 * Yes its good to set both preloader same as the cache lifespan.
