  • @flyfisher842 Comet Cache does not cache the /wp-login.php page or any WordPress Dashboard pages. How are you determining that Comet Cache is caching it?

Because I run my browser with remembered logins and I found the html page in cache with my real username on it. I don’t have to run it that way of course. But I was surprised to find it in cache as html.

I just checked a second site running comet cache and the page is listed in the author cache. It goes to the site home page but with my real user name in the url in the address bar. Not cool.

And of course the jugglybot has found it too as i can find it on my webmaster tools pages in crawl errors as a 404 but with my real user name on it. Changing the name will not fix anything as this is a comet cache problem.

@flyfisher842 Are you using Comet Cache Lite or Comet Cache Pro?

@raamdev I asked about Comet Cache Pro because Logged-In User caching is a Pro-only feature and it sounds like you’re seeing logged-in users being cached. Even if you were, the Pro-only Logged-In User caching feature does not apply to the WordPress Login Page—there is no scenario that I can think of with Comet Cache where the login page would ever be cached.

Were you using a different caching plugin before Comet Cache? If so, maybe that caching plugin generated the cache file that includes your username.

If not, can you tell me the exact path to the cache filename where you found your username? (e.g., wp-content/cache/...) The full path to the filename will help.

comet cache lite and yes I can send you the link but not on this forum as the link contains my user name.

Comet cache is picking up the log in page from when I call it in my FF browser to actually login. Since I have it set to remember the login, my user and password are on that page. What is happening I think is comet cache is following the back to home page link on the login page and that is the content but the url contains my username as the name of the author. The page is cached in the author folder in the cache for the site under the comet cache folder.

And of course google has found the page and has it in their damn index because it is showing up as 404 crawl error.

This issue is not confined to just one theme but to two std WP themes and two free ones I downloaded from the respository.

This may be partly a WP 4.5.2 problem too as WP should not be making author pages out of the wp-login page. Be a hero and suggest they look at whether WP is making author pages out of the login page.

@flyfisher842 Can you submit a ticket here with more details about the path? http://wsharks.com/1TILupQ (link good for 24 hours) Please reference the URL for this forum thread in your ticket.

Ok got this sorted I think. I know how my username ended up on a url and an author page.

I now have 4 plugins available to deal with this author page stuff. And a couple of functions that can go in a child theme functions.php

And now I can say I believe Comet Cache did only what it was supposed to do in caching the pages.

Thank you for your patience and help with this issue. I was just really surprised to see my username on a page. But thanks to the rather dumb way WP handles usernames and nicknames, it happened. I have this fixed now.

@flyfisher842 Thanks for the update! I’m glad you got this resolved. 🙂
