• Hello,
I have some problems with a theme not working well, so I tried to delete the whole theme and reinstall it.
What I wanted was a clean new theme but instead all previous links and foto’s and URL links where already in place. How do I get a clean install of a previous installed theme?
    I cannot see any caching.

  • Hey there asybr53,

    Hope you’re well today!

All your content including posts, pages, media files etc are stored in the database and not in the theme files so I guess there is nothing wrong with the theme.

In order to remove all content you’ll have to drop the database tables where this is stored. A reinstall would be the best (and safest/most effective) route. You could empty (truncate) db tables but the problem there is that you could remove too much and effectively lock yourself out completely. Or delete too little and retain all old theme options and taxonomy relationships etc.

You might want to consider using plugins for content removal such as this one here:

    Hope this helps 🙂

    Best regards,

    Found it, Thank you.
I tried indeed the theme files and the database with a clean install.

Theme problem is still there so I decided to go for another theme.

But…I know now where to look in the future..
    Thanks again

    Glad I could help 🙂

    Cheers,
    Bojan
