    Hi

The ability to use the original thumb will be in the next release. I have added it here : https://github.com/fooplugins/foogallery/issues/76

You can test this feature by downloading the plugin from this branch : https://github.com/fooplugins/foogallery/archive/feature/use_original_thumbnails.zip

Remember to clear CSS optimizations if you use this version

and you will need to check the “Use Original Thumbnail” setting once you have downloaded this version. Let me know how it goes

    Hello,

Thank you for your quick response. Unfortunately i tried this new option without the success i expected.

    1. I downloaded the new plug-in you just released
    2. I replaced the old foogallery by the new one
    3. I checked the new setting “Use Original Thumbnails ☑ Allow for the original thumbnails to be used when possible. This can be useful if your thumbs are animated gifs.” and saved it.
    4. I cleared thumbnail cache
    5. I added new GIFs and cleared the cache again

But the foogallery still use a wrong unanimated thumbnail.

    For example i upload “../wp-content/uploads/2016/06/myGIF.gif”
    and it shows “../wp-content/uploads/cache/2016/06/myGIF/0123456789.png”

The first solution i found is to replace the .png in the cache file with the proper .gif renamed 0123456789.png
But it will break each time i’ll clear thumbnail cache.

In my case, i only upload .jpg for still pictures and .gif for animated GIFs. The resulting thumbnails are .jpg and .png
So each time the gallery shows a .png i’d prefer to show the suitable GIF (not in cache)

My question is, when i check the “Use Original Thumbnail” setting, i will be able to clear thumbnail cache exept for .png ?

To sum-up i think i’d rather need a “Use Original Picture instead of Thumb (only for GIFs/PNGs)” setting

    Thanks again.

I am also not seeing a change with the updated version. Like the above user,I checked the new setting “Use Original Thumbnails ☑ Allow for the original thumbnails to be used when possible. This can be useful if your thumbs are animated gifs.” and saved it. I removed the old media and uploaded a new version. It is still showing as a still image. As I’m using this for sponsors, it is important to have animation. Would love a solution for this. Otherwise, this plugin is amazeballs!

    please can you try v1.2.20

In this version there is a new checkbox on the gallery edit page, in the Thumbnails metabox in the right sidebar, called “Force Original Thumbs”

Check that and it will force the use of the original attachment thumbs.

Let me know if that works for you please

Works perfectly now! Thank you SO much!!!
