Buying Vantage was a mistake
-
When I started researching how to implement a directory in WordPress, I saw more than one reviewer who cautioned against using a theme. You’ll be sorry down the road, they said. Themes are for appearance; plugins are for functionality. It didn’t take long for me to realize that those reviewers were right.
I had a problem with Vantage almost immediately. The Review capability wasn’t working, and their customer support told me that nobody else had the problem and they didn’t know where to begin looking. I did all the normal troubleshooting–deactivating plugins and even reinstalling the theme. Since a directory site without reviews is useless to me, I asked for a refund. My requests were ignored until I started a dispute via PayPal, then my money was promptly refunded.
I am now using the Sabai Directory plugin. The learning curve was a bit steeper than with Vantage, but it works great and their support is excellent.
