Support » Plugin: User Role Editor » buttons “Delete Role”/”Cancel” (don’t delete role) inverted functions (italian)

  • hello and thanks for your plugin.

it all works fine for me, I’d just like to report a strange behavior when I try to delete a role.

it seems the Delete Role and Cancel (as in Cancel the operation and don’t delete the Role) in the popup to delete a Role appear with confusing translation when using an italian localized instance of wordpress.

if the link to screenshots below work, the matter would be instantly clear.

I’ll try to describe it as shortly as I can.

I’m in the URE edit page. I load a Role to delete, I click a button from the panel on the left, button correctly labeled “Cancella Ruolo”.

a popup appear, asking me to select the Role to delete, with the current Role preselected.

the problem is, in this popup where in english I would see a “Delete Role” button (on the left), in an italian localization I see instead an “Annulla” labeled button: to an italian speaker would mean “Cancel the operation – do not delete the role”. where in english I would see a “Cancel” button I see another “Cancel” labeled button.

now, because in italian “Cancellare” (to cancel) could ambiguously means both “Delete something” and “Cancel the deletion operation”, I’m lead to think “if the left button unambiguosly says Annulla (as in cancel the operation) then the “Cancel” button on the right will cancel (delete) the Role”. but of course it’s not so, and it took me a while to realize I should click the “Annulla” button.

I checked the italian translations for the strings Cancel, Delete Role etc and they seems to be fine.

    thanks again and best regards.
