• Hello good people.

I would like to have a bulk sms widget on my site (http://bfsumagreenhopecenter.com/) so visitors can send free single and bulk sms to any number of their choice worldwide.

Please could someone help me with information on what is involved and the step by step process on how to achieve this.

I would be glad to have your assistance.

    Thank you in anticipation.

  • There’s really only three steps.

    1. Find a SMS provider that has some form of widget code that will let you do this.
    2. Sign up for their service and pay whatever fees they are asking for.
    3. Add the widget to your site.

I’ll pretty much guarantee that there’s no free service out there, and if there is I’d be a bit wary of using it as sending SMS’s out like that can turn out to be a very expensive exercise.

Imagine… Some bot finds your sites SMS sending form, and proceeds to use it to send out 1,000,000’s of SPAM messages to every phone number it can find… all of which you’d be paying for. There’s a lot more to the security of things likt this than is readily visible.

Just as @catacaustic pointed out, it will be really expensive to maintain the site, I have seen a website that started with the hope of getting companies to advertise through their platform, limiting the number of characters the user can send. But the company folded up in a matter of weeks.

However, if you’ve got things covered, this link might help http://www.clickatell.com.au/blog/2010/08/welcome-the-global-village-savvy-developer-creates-bulk-sms-wordpress-plugin/

Thank you all for your contribution…but what do you say about this provider: http://www.opentextingonline.com/widgets/textfree.aspx
    Are they for real?
