I have had this problem with Internet Explorer when it is running in “Compatibility View” and the Document Mode is set to “IE7 Standards” or “Quirks Mode”. If you press the F12 key to bring up the Developer Tools you can change the Browser Mode and Document Mode.

If you are not running Internet Explorer or if this suggestion doesn’t help, give me more information about your browser configuration and I can be of more help.

iMac Google Chrome (not Canary). Tried Firefox as well, if I remember correctly.

Thanks for this response and for the browser details.

I am running on a Windows PC and have just tested with Chrome Version 30.0.1599.69 m, and FireFox 20.0.1. Both of these browsers work fine on my system (of course).

Let me restate your symptoms to make sure I understand them.

    For the Bulk Edit question,

    1. You say “it didn’t prompt me to edit anything“. When you select “Edit” from the Bulk Actions dropdown list and click “Apply”, a form should open up just below the column titles in the Media/Assistant submenu table; is the form coming up?
    2. If so, there should be a dropdown labeled “Author” in the right-hand column of the form; that’s how you select a new author for the item(s). Is that working for you?
    3. When you select a new author from the list, MLA matches it against the current author of each item you’ve selected. It’s possible to get a “No changes” result if none of the author values actually changed. Is it possible that you’re editing items whose author is already the value you want?

For the Quick Edit question, you say “nothing happens“.
When you click on the link, a form should open up in the row of the item you’re editing. Is that not happening?

If I understand your symptoms, perhaps there is a JavaScript error that’s preventing the MLA Quick/Bulk edit code from running to completion. Do you know how to use the Firefox Firebug tools or the Chrome equivalent to see if this is the case?

I appreciate your patience and your understanding. With more information I hope I can solve this problem for you.

Hey, David. Sorry I didn’t see your previous reply. Thanks for the details.

I tried it again and both bulk and quick edits worked (I only tried changing the author in both cases). Can’t remember which site(s) I tested this on before, but the one I tested on today works. Thanks! 🙂
