• I acquired an existing WordPress site that has several thousand posts and several thousand media files. I was able to move all the posts, pages, and media files using FTP, and now I can’t figure out how to re-attach the media files (they are showing in the media library thanks to the Add From Server plugin).

Is there any way to “mass” re-attach the files to their respective posts?

  • Did you move the database too?

I’m not sure? The site looks like it did before I moved everything (theme, pages, posts, formatting, etc.), except for the media files.

My apologies for my ignorance on the terminology, this is all new to me.

Ok, did you change the url when you changed servers?

Nope, the URL stayed the same. I have some more intel that might help–the media files all have the date I uploaded them to the new server, not the original posting date. That by itself may be the only issue (the URLs are now all date-stamped with Monday’s date).

Any idea how to change the URLs of the media files to reflect the original dates?
