• Hi,

Whenever I try to build the index with the “expand shortcodes” option enabled, the page refreshes and outputs the content of one of my shortcodes. This causes the Relevanssi options page to be the contents of my shortcode and my site header. There are no Relevanssi options on the page anymore and all of the WordPress admin panel submenus are expanded and not styled properly.

Has something like this ever been encountered before? Did I write my shortcode wrong? Currently, the shortcode outputs all of the content for the page it is used on. The output itself is an HTML form.

Please let me know if you have any troubleshooting tips I can try.

Sounds like a misbehaving shortcode to me. Is your shortcode echoing out content? If it is, it shouldn’t: shortcode content should be returned from the function.

Thanks for the reply. The shortcode is returning the content. I also just found out that I can’t update a post containing one of my shortcodes that calls some WooCommerce functions. I found a lot of posts detailing some conflicts between WooCommerce and Relevanssi.

I’d like to use the “expand shortcode” option if possible. Any other suggestions on how to make my shortcodes compatible?

Yeah, WooCommerce shortcodes in general don’t work with Relevanssi. I’ve never been be able to even start figuring out why, as I don’t know how they work and I don’t have a test environment where I could reproduce the issues. As far as I can tell, there’s something in WooCommerce that makes the shortcodes incompatible with Relevanssi. What that is – that’s a mystery to me.
