Support » Themes and Templates » Building Custom Flash Player

  • Hey guys,

I’ve lurked for some time now and I’ve always gotten good feedback, so I decided to post with a very specific question. Mind you, I’ve become, as many, a Google/search engine assassin, and I couldn’t find much on the topic.

My question is rather plain. I’m sick and tired of using Flash player plugins that show ads, this or that, and have myriad options which I assume bog down my site (if only slightly). Can I make my own flash player, built to order, for playing Flash on my posts? I’ve used a plugin for awhile now, but that’s becoming cantankerous and I’d like to have more control. Also, I feel like I could make the theme more cohesive, and imply a more professional coalescence, so to speak. I own Flash CS4 and would be glad to dive in there if that applies.

Anyone have any ideas, or directions to point me? Thanks for your help.

    The Aryeh

  • I had your same problem before I found the Flash Video Player which has no ads and plenty of customizable parameters.

I love it! There are lots of neat skins to choose from too. Check it out before building your own.

Actually, that’s the very plugin I’m trying to get away from. The author just updated it so that you should only be able to use your logo as a watermark if you use it licensed, besides flashing his own logo before every video.

This is not to say that I’m not interested in supporting his endeavors, but I appreciated the program a lot more before he forced those changes. And really, if I have the skill and the time, I’d like to give it a go on my own and not have to worry about this stuff in the future. Thanks for the response though– have any idea where I might be able to find some documentation on making my own player?

You can make your own player if you have Adobe Flash. Or just use Moyea Web Player to customize a Flash video player skin for your blog.
