• Step 1: Fetch the assets from the targeted page…  will complete, but

    Step 2: Build the list of the fetched assets and print it…  This is stuck at Please Wait and never finishes.

    I’ve tried disabling every plugin except Asset CleanUp and clearing all caches.

    I’ve also tried to reset everything in Asset CleanUp (settings, page loads & any load exceptions) in the tools section. I removed and re-installed Asset CleanUp, but nothing seems to work. There are 10 page unloads that I originally set up that will still work if I import the settings into Asset Cleanup, but I still get stuck at step 2 above.

    All plugins and WordPress are updated to the most current versions.

    I do get the follwing errors (see the screenshot) when I inspect the page, but I’m not really sure what to do with the information or if it’s even helpful. This is when I’m in the Asset CleanUp settings on the “CSS & JS Manager” tab and the Fetched Asset line is trying to print, but never does. I’ve also tried “Manage in the Front-End” and it’s not working.

    Any ideas?

    @nextronic there are various ways to debug this. We can start with checking the actual output of the targeted page. If you load the URL for which you want to load the assets list and append /?wpassetcleanup_load=1 is there a note at the bottom of that page that contains “BEGIN WPACU PLUGIN JSON”? Are you comfortable sharing with us the URL to your website?

    I don’t mind, the url is nextronicsystems.com

    If I append /?wpassetcleanup_load=1 the page won’t load.

    @nextronic indeed, the white screen of death is showing up like there’s a PHP error there in the background. Can you install and setup the “Error Log Monitor” plugin and after you do that, trigger the same URL again to get the white page? If there’s an error there, it might be reported by “Error Log Monitor” and show up in the widgets area (Dashboard).

    OK, I installed “Error Log Monitor” I don’t get the white screen now, just an “HTTP Error 500” The log for Error Log Monitor is still blank, but if I go to the Asset CleanUp configuration I now get the following error when trying to print the fetched assets:

This could be because of a firewall that is blocking the AJAX call, a redirect loop or an error in the script that is retrieving the output which could be due to an incompatibility between the plugin and the WordPress setup you are using.

    @nextronic I’m frankly surprised. You might have a plugin or a tool that blocks your request whenever “wpassetcleanup_load” is used as a query string. What kind of security tools are you using? Perhaps Wordfence that was configured in a certain way? Also, what PHP version are you using? Can you share with us some information about the hosting package you are using?
