Support » Localhost Installs » BUG: site health report updates problem related to file access

  • wordpress doen’t work, can’t be updated and site health gives me this error:
    “Your installation of WordPress prompts for FTP credentials to perform updates. (Your site is performing updates over FTP due to file ownership. Talk to your hosting company.)”

    This is bug of wordpress because files in wordpress directory have full file acces for everyone and it should work and not to report me problems that don’t exist

    wordpress install script have wrote config file there because I have set full access to wordpress directory, so it should work, but it doesn’t work
    It also asks for ftp access all the time for anything without any sense

    This should be fixed!

  • Do you have a line in wp-config.php that looks like

    define('FS_METHOD',

    If so what does it contain?

    Hello Alan,
    Thank you for your replay.
    No there is not such define clause in wp_config.php file in root folder of wordpress installation path

    I always add to my local installations in the wp-config.php file:

    define('FS_METHOD','direct');
    define( 'FS_CHMOD_DIR', ( 0775 & ~ umask() ) );
    define( 'FS_CHMOD_FILE', ( 0664 & ~ umask() ) );

    That sorts that issue every time.
