 * I have just recently started using WordPress. I imported my old posts and comments
   from “Blogger” in accordance with Word Press instructions. Everything seemed
   to import satisfactorily. However…..
 * I noticed that when going into the archived post menu for a given ‘month’ that
   when entering some months, after the page opened the “header graphic” would be
   off center about half-inch to the left of the rest of the page graphics while
   the “footer graphic” would be off center about half-inch to the right of the
   page graphics. Finally after an exercise in ‘process of elimination’ I actually
   determined that it was certain posts within the group which were exhibiting this
   behavior. Except for a few select posts, the remaining posts would function properly
   meaning the page graphics would align just as they should.
 * After some time I finally discovered that some of the HTML code was a bit screwy.
   Implying that when these posts were imported some of the code got affected some
   how or another. In the posts that had the graphic shift problem I would find
   a code, for example, that should have been “</div>” and had apparently been changed
   somehow to “<div />” (that is a blank space between the ‘v’ and the hash mark
   by the way). It was always just one code of one type or another. Once I found
   the screwy code and deleted it, the graphics on the page would align properly
   and everything would be fine.
 * Now, I am a novice when it comes to using HTML code so please understand that
   if it ain’t “WYSIWYG” – I will probably give you a blank stare if anyone offers
   to “deep” an explanation. 🙂
 * Perhaps others have experienced this? And like I said, I don’t have a clue if
   this is a user problem or perhaps a bit of a bug?
 * Thanks….Alan

 * WYSIWYG is well known about inserting that kind of idiotic tags. Just don’t use
   it. It causes more harm than benefits (if any…).

 * And that is why it should be disabled by default in WP!

 * moshu & war59312….
 * Sorry but I am not sure I understood your responses.
 * My comment with regard to “WYSIWYG” in my post was a feeble attempt at humor
   meaning I only use “WYSIWYG” type programs verses something where I have to know
   HTML code.
 * I imported my old blog using WordPress and the rest of my original post addressed
   that result – which had to do with the weird code. I am just trying to find out
   why the WordPress importing procedure affected the code or is it a bug in the
   importing program?
 * Or…..are you all referring to something (wysiwyg)I am totally clueless about??
 * Sorry….Alan

 * it could be a bug in the importer, but the wysiwyg editor does break tags in
   the way you described. disabling the editor and fixing them by hand seems to
   be the way to go.
